History of Tea Mug No1: Tea was mythically discovered by the Chinese emperor Shen Nung. Leaves from a tea plant blew into his pot of boiling water and Tea as a hot beverage was born.


History of Tea Mug No2: In 760AD Chinese sage, Lu Yu wrote, "The Classic of Tea". The drinks popularity spread to Japan where Lu Yu's book helped to influence the Tea Ceremony that is now synonymous with Japanese culture today.


History of Tea Mug No.3: Tea is first imported to Europe by the Dutch and Portuguese during the early 1600's.


History of Tea Mug No.4: During the mid 17th century, Charles II's wife, Catherine of Braganza introduces tea drinking in England. It was a custom already popular in her native Portugal.


History of Tea Mug No.5: In England in 1940, during World War II, tea was rationed to 2oz per person per week. Tea would be rationed for the next 12 years.


History of Tea Mug No.6: Today tea is the most popular drink in the UK and the average Briton consumes around 2,000 cups a year.
