Pirate Gran Goes for Gold
Following on from the hugely-popular Pirate Gran, our adventurous seafaring pensioner has now got wind of the Olympics and, with the help of old shipmates Flint-Hearted Jack, Fingers O’Malley and Cut-Throat Malone (not to mention her long-suffering pet croc), she’s dead set on becoming World Champion Gran…
Pirate Gran was developed from the winning entry to the 60-second story-writing competition by BBC London / RaW – a campaign to help adults across the UK to build their confidence in reading and writing, through storytelling. The story was published to great acclaim by the NMM in 2008. This sequel is published due to demand from children and their parents alike.
The wayward granny’s adventures have great ‘child-appeal’, packed with quirky humour.
It bridges the gap between the young and the ‘young at heart’.
This terrific story is paired with lively illustrations, full of extra detail, which feed the child’s imagination and may help them develop ideas for pirate games of their own.
