The original ‘Ponko’ was a promotional soft toy based on photographic studies of Adélie penguins in the Antarctic by Herbert Ponting. He was part of Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s British Antarctic Expedition from 1910–12, and the first professional photographer to go to the Antarctic. Produced alongside Ponting’s film Great White Silence, Ponko is thought to be one of the earliest pieces of merchandise to be sold in conjunction with a film.
When it comes to quality, Kite don’t compromise. They always use the softest organic fabrics and craft each garment to provide exceptional fit, comfort and durability.
Our garments can be worn and washed again and again, and passed on to others once your little adventurer has grown out of them. You'll find the Kite flag badge across our styles which is our promise to you that you’re buying quality you can trust.
We are passionate about protecting the planet and sustainability is at the heart of Kite's production.
