Crown Pin Badge

Regular price £1.75 Sale

A gold plated pewter heraldic crown supplied on a pin with clasp. The information on the reverse of the card explains about heraldry and heraldic designs.

This charming gold crown pin would look great on the lapel of a jacket or tie too.

The Tudor Crown, also known as the King's Crown or Imperial Crown, is a widely used symbol in heraldry of the United Kingdom. Officially it was used from 1902 to 1953 representing not only the British monarch personally, but also "the Crown", meaning the sovereign source of governmental authority. As such, it appeared on numerous official emblems in the United Kingdom, British Empire and Commonwealth.

During the Medieval period Knights in armour would decorate their shields with heraldic designs.  These would be used to identify each Knight either on the battlefield or during a tournament.  Some of the most popular heraldic designs featured animals and mystical beasts, crowns and flowers.  Crown designs were associated with Royalty.
