Astronomy Photographer of the Year is an annual competition featuring the world’s greatest space photography. Photographers from across the globe compete to take home the prestigious title.
The full Moon rising at Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor. It was a wonderful crisp December day and as we drove up onto Exmoor we went through a bank of cloud and emerged into the sunshine. It was fabulous to stand on the summit and look out at the clouds below us. I used Photopills to locate where the Moon would appear and waited for it to emerge through the clouds. Full Moon rise was at sunset, which gave the clouds a lovely pink tint, as the Moon rose it changed colour from pink to orange to yellow. As the Moon emerged through the cloud the light was refracted through the atmosphere creating a slight bulging/distortion effect, as it rose through the atmosphere this corrected and it appeared spherical.
I set my intervalometer to 3 minute intervals and shot the moon at a speed of 1/160th or 1/100th second to freeze the motion of the Moon. The 6 Moon shots were blended in Photoshop using lighten mode. - Jennifer Rogers
Our Custom Prints and frames are all handmade to the highest standards. As each Custom Print and frame is made to your required specification, they take a little longer to prepare. Custom Prints are printed on sustainable, matt 250gsm conservation digital paper. Unframed prints are carefully rolled with acid free tissue paper inside a sturdy cardboard tube. Frames are made in the UK from sustainably-sourced woods.
Custom Prints (those which are customised by choosing a size and frame) are made to order and therefore take a little longer than our standard fulfilment times. Please read our Delivery and Returns page for our latest information about UK and international shipping.
