A stunningly crafted, chrome-plated half double hunter pocket watch inspired by John Harrison’s world-changing chronometer. This pocket watch is one of our luxurious timepieces from Royal Observatory Greenwich, the home of Greenwich Mean Time.

Our exclusive Royal Observatory Greenwich John Harrison's H4-Inspired Chrome Pocket Watch is part of our gift collection inspired by Time & the Prime Meridian.

What is a half double hunter pocket watch?

A half double hunter pocket watch has a protective case on both the front and back that also  features a front viewing window which allows you to quickly and easily tell the time, even when the case is closed.

To open the front case, press the button on top of the winder gently. Press the winder button further to open both the front and back cases.

To close the case, depress the winder and gently close the lids rather than clicking the case shut, as snapping the case closed can damage the latch.

What is a Skeleton dial?

A skeleton dial allows for the operation and mechanics of the watch to be viewed through the watch's face.

This quality chrome-plated timepiece features a double-opening half double hunter style case, and the skeleton dial feature displays the beautifully complex 17 jewelled mechanical watch movement within.

The case features Roman numeral hour markings to allow for the time to be read when the front lid is closed.

The watch can also be hung on a pocket watch stand, making this an elegant addition to your desk or mantelpiece.

  • Exclusive to Royal Museums Greenwich
  • One year guarantee for manufacturing faults
  • Chrome-plated case
  • Skeleton dial
  • Hand-wound mechanical movement

How to set the time of your pocket watch

Gently pull the watch crown fully out and turn it to move the watch hands to set the time. Then push the crown down into position.

Winding a mechanical pocket watch

To maintain the accurate running of your watch, we recommended that it be wound a little every day, turning the crown smoothly in a clockwise direction. Stop when resistance is felt as over-winding or forceful winding can damage the movement. Reset the time each day.

Perfect desk clock when paired with the stand.

I picked up this watch and the pocket watch stand at the museum gift shop to use as a desk clock/memento from our trip to England. It's great, because each time I wind it it gives such good memories of Greenwich and her people. I will cherish it and those memories 'til the end of time!

Hi Jeff,
We are so happy to hear you love this product and that it reminds you of your trip to England! What a wonderful story to hear, thank you for sharing :)
