Aurora Sherbert (Custom Print)
Astronomy Photographer of the Year is an annual competition featuring the world’s greatest space photography. Photographers from across the globe compete to take home the prestigious title.
November 3rd into the 4th, 2021 was one for the memory books! A number of solar storms hit the planet at the same time - sparking a G3 level geomagnetic storm.
I drove 8 hours this night - to an area I have never been to because it was one of the only areas without complete overcast. I really wanted to showcase some landscape element as well, so I found this little puddle/rock that ended up reflecting the aurora beautifully. I also used an auto-modified camera, so there's a bit more red showing. Although with the power of this event, red was visible even in non-modded cameras. It still blew me away the amount of colours in the sky this night. I did choose to focus stack this image to get the most from the foreground elements. - MaryBeth Kiczenski
Our Custom Prints and frames are all handmade to the highest standards. As each Custom Print and frame is made to your required specification, they take a little longer to prepare. Custom Prints are printed on sustainable, matt 250gsm conservation digital paper. Unframed prints are carefully rolled with acid free tissue paper inside a sturdy cardboard tube. Frames are made in the UK from sustainably-sourced woods.
Custom Prints (those which are customised by choosing a size and frame) are made to order and therefore take a little longer than our standard fulfilment times. Please read our Delivery and Returns page for our latest information about UK and international shipping.
Please check the size and frame options carefully so that you are happy as once ordered we will be unable to change.
