"Haslingden Halo is one of four panopticon sculptures located on the hills of East Lancashire. The Halo is an 18-metre diameter sculpture illuminated by hundreds of bright LED lights. Seeing the illuminated sculpture, on top of a hill, evokes the image of the movie poster for Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I took 151, 25-second images over an hour and combined them to show the apparent rotation of the stars around the star Polaris. The extremely bright LEDs of the sculpture necessitated a shorter exposure of 5 seconds for the foreground. The star and foreground images were then blended in Photoshop." Katie McGuinness
Our Custom Prints and frames are all handmade to the highest standards. As each Custom Print and frame is made to your required specification, they take a little longer to prepare. Custom Prints are printed on sustainable, matt 250gsm conservation digital paper. Unframed prints are carefully rolled with acid free tissue paper inside a sturdy cardboard tube. Frames are made in the UK from sustainably-sourced woods.
Custom Prints (those which are customised by choosing a size and frame) are made to order and therefore take a little longer than our standard fulfilment times. Please read our Delivery and Returns page for our latest information about UK and international shipping.
Please check the size and frame options carefully so that you are happy as once ordered we will be unable to change.
Every purchase supports the work of Royal Museums Greenwich.
