Astronomy Photographer of the Year is the largest international competition of its kind. Organised by the Royal Observatory Greenwich and sponsored by Insight Investment, the competition receives entries from photographers all around the world. It annually showcases the best space photography from a global community of astrophotographers.

The incredible site of the old Lithgow Blast Furnace has now been restored as a heritage icon in the area, reflecting on the past history of the beginnings of the iron and steel industries in Australia. With some prior planning, visiting at night provides the mesmerizing opportunity to capture the galactic core in the Milky Way as it passes overhead. On this night I was blessed with the opportunity to try out the first astro-shots captured using a new high megapixel camera that was yet to be released. I captured this as a single image and processed it with a few adjustments in Adobe Camera RAW. Jay Evans

Custom prints are printed on sustainable, matt 250gsm conservation digital paper. Unframed prints are carefully rolled with acid free tissue paper inside a sturdy cardboard tube. Frames are made in the UK from sustainably- sourced woods.
