Royal Observatory Greenwich FirstScope 76 Celestron Telescope

Regular price £69.99 Sale

It doesn’t get much simpler or more portable than the Celestron FirstScope’s tabletop Dobsonian design. Just remove it from the box, insert an eyepiece, and you’re ready to view the Moon, planets, nebulae, and more!

This high-quality Dobsonian style stand with its 76 mm reflector optical tube make the FirstScope an ideal entry level astronomical telescope. It is very easy to observe with as the user simply navigates the night sky by moving the tube in the direction of their desired object.

From our astronomer here at Royal Observatory Greenwich:

"Telescopes are often slightly intimidating pieces of equipment, but models like this allow for a quick and straightforward setup. Everything necessary to start observing the night sky is included: star clusters, nebulae, planets, and of course the Moon are all potential targets (and even the Galilean moons in orbit around Jupiter, or making out the rings of Saturn).

With two eyepieces, you can quickly swap between a larger field of view or increased magnification, so even the same target can be observed in different ways. Additionally, its smaller size and weight makes the telescope suitable for children and convenient to move around: perfect for heading further afield to find the darkest skies!"

Dr Ed Bloomer is an astronomer and science communicator. Since joining Royal Observatory Greenwich, Ed has been involved in the full breadth of the organisation’s programming for all ages.

FirstScope’s Newtonian reflector optical system features a spherical glass mirror with a generous 76 mm of aperture. The FirstScope’s wide field-of-view provides bright, sharp views of the Moon’s mountains and craters in crisp detail. The telescope can also be enjoyed to pan the Milky Way, explore open star clusters, marvel at Saturn’s rings, or view favourite deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula.

FirstScope is the perfect companion for camping trips and all your outdoor sky watching adventures; a great choice for kids and families.
